There are no strict eligibility criteria to take the IELTS exam; anyone above 16 years of age with a valid passport can appear. However, universities, immigration authorities, and professional bodies have their own score requirements:

Undergraduate Programs: Minimum 5.5 – 6.0 Band overall.

Programs: Minimum 6.0 – 6.5 Band overall.

Professional Registration (like nursing, teaching, etc.): Minimum 6.5 – 7.0 Band overall.

Migration Purposes: Often require 6.0 – 7.0 Band, depending on the country’s visa rules.

IELTS Band Score Requirements

Your required score depends on your goal and destination country:

Undergraduate Programs: 5.5 – 6.0 Band overall (with no section below 5.5).

Postgraduate Programs: 6.0 – 6.5 Band overall (with no section below 6.0).

💼 For Professional Licensing (Nursing, Teaching, etc.)

Minimum requirement: 6.5 – 7.0 Band overall.

🌎 For Immigration & PR (Canada, Australia, UK, New Zealand, etc.)

Band requirement varies between 6.0 – 7.5, depending on the visa type
